Street Fighter IV Reviewed

What is it about? Your favorite world warriors return with a new art-style, updated graphics, and a bevy of new Super Moves that will have you rotating your joystick incessantly. All the classic moves are there too! You'll be executing sonic-booms, dragon-punches, and Blanka's electric shock thing in no time.

What’s Good About It? The same game-play that made the series a hit has been improved with an awesome array of focus attacks, super moves and ultra moves that give the classic fighter a bit more depth. You’ll be happy to know that while muscle memory will allow you to pull off Ryu’s fireball on the first try, your super and ultra moves will require only a tad more practice to pull off. Perhaps one of the biggest additions to the series is the ability to take on Street Fighters from around the globe via Xbox Live or the PSN, giving the game added replay value.

What’s Bad About It? While the game-play is solid, the peripheral details on the game are lackluster. Anime-styled featurettes give the game a bit more depth in terms of story, but pale in comparision to the storytelling ability of most modern video games. While these featurettes bookend the arcade mode, the pre and post fight smack talks are virtually unchanged from the simple text crawls of 1991's Street Fighter II.

Verdict: 4.5/5
