We read the press reviews, and salivated over the trailers repeatedly.  We saw the interviews with the big stars and convinced ourselves that actually Christian Bale isn't all that bad.  Then we spent the next three months counting down the hours until Terminator Salvation premiered at the nearest cineplex and we were sure it was something we would never forget... until Transformers 2 came out anyway.

Then the inevitable happens. It's a flop. A thunder cloud pisses it down on our expectations and the disappointment is literally unbearable. But it's not the first time it's happened. Various films/books/comics/games that once drew us closest to the meaning of life, have systematically been destroyed by the motion picture industry and as a result become dead to us. Overdramatic? Tell us again when you've sifted through the mire of 10 movies which never met our expectations.
