The first truly mobile phone (one that didn’t require its own case for transportation) went on sale in 1985. Since then, things have changed somewhat. The world has embraced the cell phone arguably more than any invention in the last century.
From the first ‘clam shell’ phone in 1996 (inspired by the original Star Trek television series), through the first cell phone with a built-in camera (that didn’t appear until 2001 believe it or not) to today’s all-singing, all-dancing gadgets of desire. The future? Who knows but the rate things are changing we’re fully expecting to be able to teleport ourselves and time travel via cell phone by the time we have a new President.
Initially phones got progressively smaller. Then manufacturers realized we got insecure where we couldn't feel them in our pockets. We've experienced shifts to more intuitive usage. Phones were briefly customisable with different facias. And now manufacturers are leading us towards more features-led handsets and we've all soon got used to the facts that our phones could do all manner of previously unimaginable things. Which brings us nicely onto the LG Versa - something that's not forgotten the development over the last quarter of a century and makes the most of design, innovation, usabililty and versatility.
